Interesting scheme in Toronto where they are mounting compact storage units on electricity poles. Each unit, storing 15 kilowatt hours of energy, is paired with a transformer and can supplement needs during peak hours in homes.

One of our Talybont Energy Directors has written an essay exploring the opportunities for using pumped storage schemes to store renewable energy in the coal fields of Wales.
This looks like an interesting innovation – storage batteries using urea which is (of course) widely and cheaply available and definitely renewable!
